Shelley Caldwell
BIO
Shelley Caldwell is a local artist who makes mixed media works on paper. She has a BFA & MA from MSU, Mankato, in Drawing & Installation, & has also taught at MNSU & Gustavus. Having exhibited extensively throughout the region & receiving several grants, she presently works from her family farm in Faribault County.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Shelley’s work combines observational drawing of plants & other natural subjects with formal abstraction. Her work emphasizes line, pattern, & color using a variety of processes & materials. She is driven to accentuate the value of the ordinary in shaping our existence, to highlight how the overlap in the supposed mundane of our individual lives unites us.
