Eric Ouren is a luthier and former art professor who lives in Kasota. He holds a BFA (1990) in Sculpture from the University of Minnesota, and an MA (1997) and MFA (1998) in Sculpture from the University of Iowa.
I have been working with fibers to create sculptural imagery. The work follows folk art processes like darning, sewing, applique' and quilting to make marks or shapes on the figural elements in each piece. Working out of my home rather than in the studio, the images are drawn from daily life, family history, or other personal tableau.
