Catherine Kober

BIO

Catherine began studying iconography in 2022 through the Antiochian House of Studies. Her work as an iconographer gives her the opportunity to engage with Minnesota communities and artists through participating in juried exhibitions. She enjoys studying Carl Jung and this informs her work as an iconographer. She lives in Sleepy Eye with her family.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an iconographer living in greater Minnesota. I paint icons to connect me to my childhood memories in my grandmother's home and the icons on her fireplace mantle. I paint to tell the multifaceted story of the Incarnation through the ancient and new language of iconography. I am inspired by folk art and Russian iconography.
