Eric Ouren has spent his lifetime working in many facets of the arts: as a sculptor, whittler, chainsaw carver, cartoonist, photographer, ceramist, banjo builder, songwriter, fiber artist, screen printer, collagist, luthier and art professor. He has lived in the St. Peter area since 1998, and lives in Kasota with his wife and two Boston Terriers.
I have been working with fibers to create sculptural imagery. The work follows folk art processes like darning, sewing, applique and quilting to make marks or shapes on the figural elements in each piece. Working out of my home rather than in the studio, the images are drawn from daily life, family history, or other personal tableau.
