Whitney Dirks (she/they) has been working with upcycled fiber since 2020, and they held their first solo exhibition at the Arts Center of Saint Peter in 2025. Their art plushies have been installed in local businesses and exhibited as far afield as Armenia. They teach embroidery, mending, and sewing workshops through local arts organizations.
I’m a disabled, queer textile artist who has worked with upcycled fiber since 2020: embroidery, machine and hand sewing, soft sculpture, and installations on environmental themes. I'm drawn to old objects – the discarded, the outdated, the broken, the unloved – and the process of acquiring and curating supplies plays an active role in my artistic production.
