Eric Ouren
BIO
Eric Ouren holds a BFA degree from the University of Minnesota, an MA from the University of Iowa, and an MFA from the University of Iowa. Ouren has taught at the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, Bethel University, Minnesota State Mankato, and Bethany Lutheran College.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been working with fibers to create sculptural imagery. The work follows folk art processes like darning, sewing, applique and quilting to make marks or shapes on the figural elements in each piece. The images are drawn from family history, or other personal tableau.
