Emily Kretschmer

BIO

Emily is a self-taught visual artist with degrees in creative writing and nonprofit leadership. She taught English and writing in Morocco, Minneapolis, Mexico, and Mankato; promoted a three-ring circus; and assisted playwright August Wilson. She has exhibited art in Mankato, Owatonna, St. Peter, and recently opened B3 Studio and Gallery at Nicollet Plaza.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Emily began a regular art practice in 2018, drawing and painting figurative folk art. She transitioned to abstract expressionist art in 2020. She calls this “mixed media folk art fusion”, which invites her to explore media, techniques, and processes; cross and combine genres; and importantly, make art that expresses her concerns.
