BIO

Eric Ouren earned a BFA in sculpture from the University of Minnesota in 1990, and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Iowa in 1998. He taught in the art department at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN from 2000-2017.Ouren opened Ouren Instruments in 2019, currently in Saint Peter, MN. He and his wife live in Kasota, MN with their two dogs.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I have been, at various times in my artistic life, a cartoonist, a printmaker, a metal sculptor, a chainsaw artist, a painter, a collage artist, a found-object sculptor, a photographer, a ceramic artist, a folk-art woodcarver, a banjo builder, and a songwriter and musician.
